The Rook’s Siege sees yet another band overhaul with the music moving in a progressive rock direction again. Much of it was recorded during the pandemic and the core band was Martin Vengadesan (vocals/keyboards/guitar/bass) with Wong Lip Kee (electric guitar) and producer Ashwin Gobinath (programming/drums). There were also a range of additional performances by members of the live band - Joanne Timbuong (vocals), Harrie Sahrm (bass) and Thomas Toh (guitar). Key guest contributions also came from Kumar Karthigesu (sitar), Helga Sedli (violin) and members of Faye Faire - Alena Nadia and I-Shan Esther (both vocals). Standout songs include the 12 minute opener The Horizon Myth, the hard-hitting The Tomb Of Osiris, the cascading Ashes and the brooding The Heretic, all of which prove that this is one of the country’s most unique bands.
